Newsroom Fashion: It's Not the Heat

by - June 10, 2016

...It's the humidity. Okay, so it's both. Here in south Alabama it seems like you can't have one without the other. I know I've probably already said this but dresses and light fabrics are my go-to for these steamy days. Really, anything that lets in what little breeze there is.

Want an idea of just how humid it is here? Just check out the haze in this picture... Anyway, I've shared this dress on the blog back in January. It's definitely one of my favorites and I couldn't wait to break it out for summer. I decided to keep it simple and paired it with these super comfortable neutral wedges from Target I picked up last weekend.

These wedges are the perfect neutral shoe. They go with everything. I've been wearing them non-stop this week and love them paired with white jeans. A lot of times I feel like brown/tan is too bold, like with this outfit so these wedges make the perfect choice. They also come in black and navy.

You can't tell in this picture but this dress has the most amazing sleeves (you can get a better idea on my Instagram). I ordered this from Walmart a few months ago only to discover it's completely see-through, so the search began for a full slip. I wasn't looking for one of those spandex, skin-tight "slips" that are everywhere, although I did try one and was extremely disappointed. I wanted a traditional silk slip ... and end up finding one at a non-traditional place, a website I've never shopped before -- Yandy. But this chemise is perfect. It's not form-fitting, is a good length, has adjustable straps and is less than $20. I'll be ordering another in white soon.
