Late Summer Teacher-Approved Outfits

How has it been two weeks since our last outfit post already? It's hard to believe we've been in school for four weeks now. It really feels like summer break was just yesterday.

Not a whole lot has happened since my last outfit post. We've gotten mostly unpacked, or least unpacked enough for the house to be 99% functional. We still haven't hung anything up on the walls, and there are still boxes stacked in some rooms, but I do at least have all my books back in their bookcases and the office is 95% set up. Also, we have internet now!

We've settled into our school routine pretty easily. I've had to adjust how I do some things in my classroom, but that's always to be expected with a new set of students as we get to know one another. Our after school routine is still evolving; we've gotten our first show pig, which means we now have something to do every afternoon, and Alexis has more homework than she's used to, but it's nice not having to drive 45 minutes home every day.

It is still unbearably hot where I live (we've still been seeing temps over 100 some days), so while lots of other people are talking about fall outfits, I'm still stuck firmly in summer. I don't even want to think about layers and knits yet! However, I am trying to do some subtle shifts in terms of color and texture, but that's about all I can do without having a heat stroke.

I've got nine outfits for you this go 'round. I forgot to take a picture the first Friday, but I was wearing a school spirit shirt and jeans, so it was kind of a throw-away outfit anyway. This roundup is full of old favorites with a few newer pieces thrown into the mix to keep things feeling current. Almost everything is still available, and it's a great time to shop since almost everywhere is having Labor Day sales right now.

Sizing info: I'm 5'2" and weigh about 140 lbs. I wear size 6 or s/m in clothes and size 7 in shoes.

I really like how this outfit turned out. These viral NASHALYLY chiffon skirts continue to be a favorite of mine. I currently own six, but they're constantly adding new patterns so that number could go up. This dusty rose is probably my favorite. I wear it quite a bit.

This go 'round, I paired it with this tie-bottom, cropped denim shirt. The sleeves can be worn long or rolled up like I did; there is a button strap to keep the sleeves in place. Because of my height, this 'cropped' length hits me right at my waist. I did, however, layer a light blue tank underneath to keep my back, sides, and belly covered in case the shirt rode up any while I was moving around and to hide the fact that there's a bit of a gap between the ties and the bottom button.

These platform sandals continue to be a rockstar. I still can't get over how comfortable they are for all-day wear at school. Definitely a good investment.

Can we talk about how fun these pants are? Unfortunately, as fun as they are, I'm struggling to style them. I have quite a few t-shirts that work well with them, but I don't want that to be all they're good for, you know? So I tried something different this first time and paired them with this floral print blouse. It's mostly red and white, but there's definitely green in there. Overall, I didn't hate this outfit. I don't necessarily like the belt with it, but the shirt didn't look right untucked either.

The pants are cropped, which means ankle length for me. They've got patch pockets and are nice and have the perfect amount of stretch. I did size up to an 8.

I love this outfit, although I must admit that I wasn't sure if the two different shades of blue worked at first. The skirt is one of my favorite cotton-linin ones, the first one I bought actually. They really are such good basics and easy to dress up or down depending on your mood.

My blouse is so interesting, and I wish I had gotten a picture of the back of it for y'all. It has a pretty floral pattern that reminds me of those blue China patterns. It has ruffled sleeves and the cutest bow on the back. It's also fully lined.

This is one of my favorite dresses ever. I found it a few years ago at what used to be my favorite local boutique (the last few times I've gone in have been sadly disappointing). I'll be honest about this day. I wasn't really feeling it, so I wanted something simple and comfortable, and this dress is one that I reach for when I just don't have the patience to put together an outfit.

I wanted to wear really comfortable shoes, so I grabbed my favorite taupe/nude colored knit Skechers flats. These are hands-down the most comfortable shoe I own, which more than makes up for the fact that they're really not all that stylish. This exact style is no longer available on the Skechers site, but I did find them on Amazon for you, as well as a couple of similar pairs with good reviews.

Sweater | Dress | Slip Shorts | Shoes

This outfit feels so nostalgic to me, but I'm not sure that I really pulled it off. Individually, I love each piece; I'm just not sure that I love them together. I think a big part of it is that I'm not 100% sold on the polo-style sweater, and I think it's because it doesn't have buttons! V-necks are just not my normal style. That aside, the sweater itself is actually really nice. It's not super thick, has good stretch, is soft, and the colors are great.

The denim dress is short, y'all. It wasn't too short for school by any means, but I will say that I was very self-conscious about bending and squatting all day long. I did wear slip shorts underneath it, and they were almost too long. It's great quality, though, and really cute. I think with a different top, I'll appreciate it even more.

This is another of those viral NASHALYLY chiffon skirts. I wear this one a lot, too. It's really easy to mix and match with random stuff in my closet. This go round I paired it with this short-sleeve sweater. The product page says that it's brown, but I disagree with that. It's more of a taupe or beige. It has a wide banded bottom, slightly puffed sleeves, and is ribbed. It's a nice weight and breathes pretty good. I only got hot once, and I think that has more to do with going through perimenopause than the sweater itself.

This was my favorite outfit from last week. I can't even believe I'm saying that about an outfit that has pants! These are those red-striped linen pants from Old Navy that everyone lost their minds over a couple of years ago. I mean, to be fair, they really are that good. I even bought them in the blue stripe. Anyway, unfortunately Old Navy has not brought them back and has nothing similar, so I'm linking to a pair that looks kind of similar in terms of the color.

I paired them with this denim tank that I got over the summer, and I love the result. Especially paired with my favorite woven Mary Janes and this old, sparkly layered necklace that I've had for so long I can't even remember where it came from.

Remember when I said I would never wear jelly shoes as an adult? Well, I was wrong. These red jelly Mary Janes are so freaking comfortable. Nothing like the jelly shoes I remember from my childhood. They don't make my feet sweat, don't leave me with ridiculous blisters, and are actually comfortable enough for all day wear.

My dress is from Target last year. It's one of those timeless, classic styles that won't ever go out of style. It's another one of those dresses that I pull out whenever I don't want to have to think about what to wear. I've been looking for something good to link to for y'all that's similar to this dress, and I just don't see anything that's worth it.

This is probably my most repeated outfit formula of all time: graphic tee + printed skirt. My Paris tee is one that I've been mixing and matching in my closet for a couple of years now, although I tend to pair it with black more often than not. I think this is the first time I've worn it with red, and I like how the red skirt makes the red embroidery in the tee really pop. Because my shirt is a couple of years old, I found some similar options for you.

My skirt is still available, but in limited sizes. I've really enjoyed this skirt over the last year or so that I've had it. It's been so much fun to mix and match with stuff I already have. It is very thin, though, so you'll need something wear underneath it. I actually wear a half slip with this skirt. I linked it above for you.

I'm not sure that I like these studded, mesh Mary Janes with this outfit overall, but cest le vie. I got them on major clearance from Old Navy last year, so they're no longer available. I linked to a couple of pairs that have similar vibes for you.
