Monday Motivation

Welcome to August, friends! Whew, summer just blew right on by, didn't it? Counting this week, we've got two full weeks before school starts back here, if it's not delayed.

Covid numbers are on the rise again here, though thankfully they're not as high as they were last summer. A friend of mine who works at the hospital here says over half of the Covid patients have the Delta variant, and nearly all of them haven't been vaccinated. I feel like getting vaccinated is a personal choice, but like with all choices choosing not to do so comes with consequences. I am really tired of all the nonsense people are spouting off about the vaccines, and if I hear/read one more person saying they didn't think Covid was real or it couldn't happen to them, I might scream.

Ugh, anyway. Moving on.

Alexis, my mom, and I had a girls' day yesterday. We had lunch and visited a few stores before ending our day with way too much ice cream. Then I fulfilled a promise I made at the beginning of summer and temporarily dyed Alexis's hair purple (and may have let her talk me into doing mine so we'd match).

Our trip to the local water park last week was a success, even if it was so hot it triggered the first migraine I've had in over a year (daith piercings for the win!). We also got Alexis's hair cut finally, she had her last swimming lesson, and I had my first yoga session in two weeks.

All in all, it was a good week. This week is going to be one of those figure-it-out-as-you-go situations. I've got a doctor's appointment first thing tomorrow morning, and the August magazines should be ready for distribution, but otherwise my schedule is looking mostly empty right now. I'm sure I'll get it filled in by the end of today, though.

Alright, that's all I've got for you today. I hope you all have a great week!

  1. Hi, Ashton!

That's an eye-opener of a quote from British writer Roald Dahl. I have memories of Dahl from 1961 when I was age eleven. He hosted the horror, fantasy and sci-fi TV series Way Out which was similar to The Twilight Zone. I never missed either series.

I'm happy to learn that the COVID crisis in your area isn't quite as bad as it was last summer. It's a drastically different story here in Florida where the situation is worse than last year! There are more cases and more people hospitalized now than there were at the peak of the pandemic in 2020. I would dread being a parent of a school age kid and having to decide how to handle the situation as my child heads back to school. Our illustrious governor has left it up to parents to decide whether or not little Johnny will wear a mask. By tossing the ball into their court, Ron DeSanta-claus avoids taking responsibility and positive action to combat the plague. He makes the mayor of Amity Island look like a wise man!

I think Alexis will tell you that there's no such thing as too much ice cream. :) If you and your little girl now have purple hair, I demand that you post pictures! :)

I hope your doctor appointment goes well. I am still basking in the afterglow of your wonderful comment at Shady's Place. Thank you again! Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Ashton!

    1. I used to love The Twilight Zone! I hope you and Mrs. Shady are being safe amid this new surge. And I've added some photographic proof of the purple hair to this post.

    2. You and Alexis both look fantastic! I think you should go with this color all year round! :) Thanks for posting the pic, Ashton.
