Summer is well underway, and while I am glad for the break and time to recharge, it's definitely not my favorite season for fashion. It is just so hot where I live, y'all, and that makes getting dressed feel like such a chore to me. I mean, why should I waste a cute outfit on sweat? So most days you'll find me in shorts and a t-shirt and casual sandals of some kind.
On the days I do make more of an effort, which is rare in the heart of the oppressive heat wave known as a southern summer, I go for light and loose clothing and sandals that feel more put together than a pair of flip flops. As a rule, I don't love flip flops anyway, unless I'm at the beach or on the boat.
This summer I find myself a bit more on trend than I usually am regarding footwear. Though truth be told, I haven't actually updated my style so much as the current trends just happened to cycle back around to meet them. That said, there are some summer shoe trends that I will not be wearing. Namely boat shoes which just are not my style, jelly sandals which I don't find comfortable at all, and heeled flip flops which I just honestly do not like.
Instead, these are the sandals making up my summer rotation.

Two-Strap Espadrilles Sandals - It took awhile to convince myself to buy these, but they've become my go-to shoe this summer. They go with everything - dresses, skirts, shorts - are comfortable for all day wear, and feel much more put together than a flip flop. Mine are from Old Navy and still available in some sizes.
White Sandals - These are my most-worn sandals from last summer, and they are still going strong this year. They're quite comfortable and work well for both casual and dressier outfits. Surprisingly, they are still available. Remember to size up half due to the tight straps. In more than a year of wearing them, mine have not loosened up at all.
Neutral Wedges - These are a dressier option for when you want to keep that neutral look but feel a bit fancier. These are definitely not an everyday shoe for me in the summer because they do feel fancy, but I do wear them quite regularly for school to feel more professional. Mine are old and no longer available, but there are lots of similar options out there.
Heeled Clog Sandals - These are another "dressier" option, though I still think these are pretty casual. They're definitely not my everyday sandal for sure; I don't tend to wear heels much in the summer unless I'm 'dressing up.' My exact ones are all but sold out unfortunately, but there are quite a few similar options out there.
Black T-bar Sandals - I almost passed these beauties by. The minimalist shoe trend is not my favorite, and I'm not fond of having anything between my toes, but I have been in the market for a pair of chic black sandals. Y'all, I'm really glad I added these to my last Old Navy order. They are so nice in person, even on my narrow, skinny, kind of flat feet. They have a super squishy footbed and that minimalist look that's so trendy right now.
Minimalist Black Flip Flops - I'm surprised at how much I like these flip flops. Like I said, the minimalist trend is not my favorite, but I also really really really don't like rubber flip flops at all. While these flops are not very sturdy - the footbed and the straps are both very thin - they are surprisingly comfortable. I've mostly been wearing them with swimsuits, but they're great to slip on when running quickie errands.
Strappy Slide Sandals - These are a good neutral flat sandal that's better than a flip flop. They're more structured, and all the straps make them look more put together. I would recommend sizing up half - I did not, and while they fit, there's no wiggle room at all.
White Double Buckle Footbed Sandals - These are a casual alternative to the white sandals above. I've had mine for several years now and have just about worn them out, but I still find myself sliding these on with what I consider comfy outfits.
