Summer is so weird, y'all. Time passes so slowly when you don't have responsibilities, but before you know it, two weeks have passed and it's time to do another real outfit roundup. That's where I share the outfits I wore in real life, a little about what I did while I was wearing them, and links to shop the same or similar items.
The last two weeks have been pretty lazy. Our weather has been all over the place. One week, we had pop-up thunderstorms nearly every day, and the heat has been unbearable. We haven't actually done much since the last outfit dump. There was father's day and my father-in-law's birthday. We've gone back to the water park...and that's pretty much it.
This roundup has a mix of casual and semi-dressed-up looks with quite a few new pieces that I've added for the season. I've also got the third and final swimsuit I bought this year.
Here we go!
Sizing info: I'm 5'2" and weigh about 140 lbs. I usually wear size 6 or s/m in clothes and size 7 in shoes.
This dress was one I bought back in April but hadn't worn yet. It's such a great print for summer. It is a cotton-polyester blend with no stretch. However, the back of the bodice is smocked so there's a bit of give there, though not much, and the straps are adjustable. It's got pockets, which is always a plus. The skirt is a-line and not lined but it's also not see through.
I decided to keep my shoes simple and wore my white sandals. They were fine and did not distract from the dress, but I didn't absolutely love them with it either. I think it's because they dressed the outfit down some. I think a more neutral sandal would have been a better choice.
I love this outfit. All I remember about this day is that we went to lunch with my in-laws and went to Lowe's to get something for my husband. I was probably overdressed, but this outfit felt so polished and put together.
This top was a case of me wanting to try this particular trend without spending a ton of money because I wasn't sure if it would work for my body, but I was pleasantly surprised. The top is a knitted material but it's not a sweater. It's very thin and breathable. I did order up and get the large because I did not want the buttons to pull, and I was worried that it would shrink. It is part of the SHEIN Frenchy collection, which has a lot of cute stuff in it.
My shorts are just regular old linen shorts from Old Navy, and they were the perfect base for this top. They've got an elastic waist, functional back pockets, and a 3.5 inch inseam. I got the medium.
I took a chance on the sandals. I've been wanting a more polished, chic pair of black sandals to wear with more elevated outfits. These strappy t-bar ones definitely fit that bill. They're definitely thin, but the sole is pretty cushy. Once I got used to the strap between my toes, they were very comfortable for all day wear.
This was a day that we spent at home, but I think I went to the Dollar Store maybe. At any rate, I just wanted to be comfortable and cool so I pulled out this tank top and these shorts.
The tank is one that I got specifically for the summer to wear to the lake or beach. I will say that this is one that I was a bit disappointed with then it came in because it's not like the picture. I was expecting a more worn cotton look than this crazy bright teal with the in-your-face orange. The print is also one of those overlay things instead of being part of the actual fabric, so it's got kind of that crinkly feel to it. It's definitely not one I'll wear much, but it'll be good for camping.
My shorts cost less than $5 and were an impulse buy...and the quality reflects that. They're not great, but for just lounging around the house, they work. They're supposed to be linen, and they're absolutely not. I can't even link to the exact ones because they're not available anymore, but the ones I am linking to should be better quality than mine.
This is one of my favorite dresses. I always feel good about myself when I wear it. I've had it for awhile so it's long been out of stock. I've actually been wanting to wear this exact combination with the vest and just needed a reason. I love how the almost faded colors of both the dress and the vest create this almost washed-out neutral look.
My exact sandals are still available in a few sizes so I'm linking to them, but if your size
This day I felt like wearing a bright outfit, and I think I succeeded. This was another day spent mostly at the house, but my parents did come to town so we went to eat dinner with them.
I've had this t-shirt for awhile, and I still love it. It's also still available and comes in quite a few other colors. My shorts are not available anymore, but I linked to a similar pair. I can't find anything in this specific lime green color.
This particular day we went to the bookstore and to get some Boba tea. It was hot, per usual, so I kept my outfit simple.
This red color remains my favorite of these ribbed maxis. It's still available in all but one size. In fact, this dress is still available in every color except the black. It's so flattering and comfortable. I will say that the material is pretty thick, which I like because it means it doesn't cling in weird places, but on really hot days it could be a problem. Still, I love these dresses.
The next day we went to the water park, so I used it as an opportunity to wear the third and final swimsuit I bought this year.
Of the three that I bought, this one is my least favorite, but it's the one I got the most compliments on. Go figure. It is very flattering, and I didn't have any issues with the bottoms wanting to bunch or roll. The top was not quite what I was expecting. It does have a band around the bottom that didn't want to stay flat; however, even when it wasn't laying flat, it looked like that was how it was meant to be.
How cute are these shorts?! They are not linen; they're polyester and have kind of a seersucker texture to them. The material is really thin but surprisingly wasn't see-through. The waistband is elastic with a tie. The backs have flaps to imitate pockets, which look so cute, but there are only front pockets. I sized up to the large to make sure that the legs were loose. I probably could have worn the medium.
This was another mostly stay-at-home day. I got dressed to take Alexis out to her grandparents for the weekend, and that evening I went to dinner with my husband. I had just gotten in an Amazon order, so I wanted to wear something new.
I paired them with this really cute (and apparently trendy) fish-print graphic tee. It's not oversized but it is fairly loose. I got it in a medium.
I put this look together for an impromptu date night this past weekend. We just went out to eat after my husband got off work, but we did go to a nicer restaurant, so I wanted to dress up a bit.

This top has been in my closet for a little bit now just waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it. It is one of those trendy tie-front blouses, but unlike the vest-style one I shared in my last outfit roundup, this one is a full blouse so it's got much more coverage. I did end up layering it over a navy blue camisole, but that was mostly because I don't like the feel of the seersucker-like texture touching so much of my skin. I think it still works, though, and it makes it into something I can wear to work.
I paired it with my white linen pants. I'm not sure if the ones I'm linking to are the exact ones I have since I've had mine for at least a year, but they look like it. I kept my shoes neutral, and I actually added jewelry, which is something I don't do often.
And that's got us caught up. Stay cool this week, and enjoy your 4th!
