Letter to Myself

by - December 26, 2011

 Dear Ashton,

This is one of those times you'll remember for the rest of your life. You're engaged, ready to spend the rest of your life with the man you love. You're excited, and you have every right to be.

Unfortunately, not everyone will be as excited and happy as you are, but hey, that's life, right? There will always be someone in your life who can't be satisfied with simply being happy for you, but don't let the negativity of others get to you.

Remember that you deserve to be happy, and the people that truly matter in your life will be happy for your happiness.

Don't try to please everyone, especially when it comes to your wedding. It's your day and should be a reflection of you and your groom. You will be a beautiful bride, and those who love you will think you are beautiful no matter what you're wearing.

There will always be nay-sayers, debbie downers and drama queens. You can't avoid them, but you can kill them with positivity, happiness and kindness.

Don't let someone talk down to you or intimidate you. Stand up for yourself and don't back down from what you believe to be right. Remember, you can't please everyone. And you shouldn't have to.

Your wedding day will be beautiful and perfect, and if you keep telling yourself all of these things the stress that often comes with planning the beginning of your future life will be minimal.

Keep your head held high and your loved ones close to you.

And don't forget you are a strong, independent woman who doesn't need the approval of those around you to be happy.

Love,
Me

  2. Based on the quantity of negative words in your post, it appears that you are trying to convince yourself. Assuming there is no reason to worry, you need to relax and allow yourself to be happy. :)

  3. Not convincing myself, simply reminding myself. Also, I wanted to have something I could come back to if the time comes when things do get stressful or someone decides they want to be ugly.

  4. Aww, that's a really good philosophy, not just for your wedding but I think for how someone plans and runs their life.
