Real Outfit Roundup: 7 Outfits for Early Spring

by - March 12, 2021

March is always a weird time to get dressed in the South. I don't know if you've seen the memes about experiencing all the seasons in one day, but it's not that far off the mark for this time of year. Truthfully, I find myself pulling from every section of my closet these days, and I'm trying to add a little more shoe variety into the mix.

I do have several new things to share with you for this edition of Real Outfit Roundup. I've been doing a closet clean-out of blouses that are just too dressy for my current lifestyle and added a few new dressy-casual blouses that I'll honestly probably wear year-round.

Sizing info: I'm 5'2" and weigh about 150 lbs. Unless otherwise noted, I wear size medium or 6/8 in tops and dresses, size 6 in bottoms, and size 7 in shoes.

We're going to start all the way back on March 3rd. I didn't have much scheduled for that day, according to my planner, which explains why my hair looked so dang good (ha!).

Anyway, I was prepared to hate these joggers but they are probably my most comfortable pair. And I've been having fun pairing them with all my graphic tees to create a comfy work-at-home outfit for days when the only place I go is the school car line. They come in a ton of colors. This pattern is JOG143/2. I like that they're ridiculously soft, have pockets, and the slim fit is actually slim.

My t-shirt is the EveryWear Slub-Knit style from Old Navy. I love the slightly curved hem and looser fit of these tees, and they come in a bunch of patterns. They're only $10 regular priced, so you really can't go wrong.

You'll remember this next outfit from my midi skirt post earlier this week. I'm sharing this version of the outfit here because this is the one I wore for most of the day. Again, I didn't have anything scheduled in my planner outside of the office, but I think I went to the post office.

This skirt is such a pretty pattern. It has a smocked waist and a slimmer fit. It is a midi skirt, but you'll notice that on me it's more like a maxi. The material is pretty thin, but I didn't have any issues with see-throughness.

My t-shirt is just a basic tee, but I'd be remiss if I didn't speak to its quality. I have a hard time finding good basic, solid-colored t-shirts that fit the way I like. These ones by Time and Tru at Walmart are amazing. They're not stretchy, nor are they oversized or bulky. They're slightly fitted and not see through and can be easily tucked fully or halfway.

My flats are pretty comfortable for Old Navy. The footbed has a little more pad than I expected. When I first got them, they were a little tight but then adjusted to my feet nicely.  However, you may want to consider ordering a half size larger. They're supposed to be waterproof, but I haven't tested that out.

We've reached last Friday. Woo! Alexis didn't have school, so my parents came over and picked her up for the weekend, and I dressed for the occasion (LOL). The only place I remember going this day was the store near our house to get a drink. I'm not loving my decision to finish things out with my taupe booties, but you live and learn, right?

I really love this shirt. The fit is amazing and the material is really nice. I love the detailing around the neck. The sleeves are 3/4 length and thankfully not super tight. Unfortunately, this color is only available in an XS right now, but it does come in a pretty white or black as well.

My jeans are sadly almost sold out, too. They're just that good! If you're looking to branch out from your skinny jeans but don't want to go full-on mom jeans (and who could blame you), I suggest you try a pair of Old Navy's boyfriend straight.

We're skipping the weekend because I didn't take any pictures at all, although I definitely got dressed and left the house. I even went bowling!

Monday was day one of distribution. We dipped back down into cooler temps, which was perfect for me to wear my new sweatshirt. I love these Time and Tru sweatshirts from Walmart. They have the perfect slouchiness without feeling like a slob. Oh, and they're so dang soft! They're my favorite thing to lounge around the house in. I've got three. They're very affordable, but I can't speak to longevity at this point.

My jeans are really old, and Aeropostale discontinued this particular style a couple years ago so I can't link to anything similar.

Tuesday was a busy day for me. I had a endontist appointment and a hair appointment, and a ridiculously long work to-do list. I also made a Target run and did a few distribution drops in between everything.

I really love the bold, boho style of this shirt. It's a tunic top, but for maybe the first time ever in my life it's not an awkward length on me. Score! It has such pretty details, too. The sleeves have elastic in the cuffs, but they weren't too tight on me.

You can't tell because I left my shirt untucked, but my jeans are high-waisted with a button fly. I wore them mostly because I liked the fit and length of the leg. Old Navy doesn't have anything similar right now so I'm just linking to all their straight styles.

Wednesday was a full-on distribution day. It was also very Spring-like, so I decided to fully embrace it.

This top is probably going to be one of my go-to's for the summer. It's a pretty print and the color will go with a lot of my bottoms. It's also nice and sturdy. I think it would work as an off-the-shoulder top, as well, although I don't know that I'll go that route.

Both my jeans and shoes are old, so I'll link to similar items.

Thursday started with a much-needed yoga session. I had so much stress weighing me down when I got there, but walked out so much lighter. Even my uncooperative hair couldn't ruin my day...especially when I was wearing such a pretty dress. I absolutely love these vintage style button-up dresses. They're so floaty and comfortable and come in so many pretty patterns.

Well that is it for me. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
