3 Christmas Outfits to Inspire You

What do your holiday plans look like this year? Last year things were pretty low-key for most everyone. This year I have a feeling things will be different as we all continue to expand our plans and boundaries.

Our family doesn't actually have any solid plans at the time I'm writing this. I know that we'll hopefully get to walk through one of our favorite light displays this weekend, and my aunt's annual Christmas party is the following weekend, but beyond that we haven't put anything on the calendar yet.

Regardless, I got a few new pieces from Old Navy that are surprisingly very seasonally appropriate and would make great Christmas outfits. So I decided to turn my try-on into a Christmas outfit inspiration post instead!

Sizing info: I'm 5'2" and weigh about 150 lbs. I wear size 6 or small in most clothing and size 7 in shoes.

How sweet is this rose-print skirt? When I saw it, I actually had a mental image of the McCalister house from Home Alone. Did you know they purposefully designed that set to be as Christmas as possible? Anyway, a bright red sweater and some red shoes and you've got a perfectly festive outfit. I chose my tried-and-true heels but in reality would probably wear flats.

A note on the skirt: the waist is only half elastic. I'm wearing the small, but because the waist doesn't have much give, it's pretty snug. I'm sure it will stretch out with prolonged wear, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. It also has pockets! It is not lined but I didn't have a problem with it being see-through. As you can tell, my red sweater is tucked in and not visible underneath.

My sweater is a few years old, and not from Old Navy. I'll link to something similar.

As you can tell, Cooper was very interested in what I was doing. He loves the Christmas tree.

This green dress is the perfect one-and-done piece for a Christmas gathering. It is sleeveless, so you'll want something to wear over it. I waffled back and forth on several things before landing on this blanket scarf. I rarely have a reason to wear it, but I love the idea of using it almost like a shawl. Plus it gave me an excuse to get out my Jessica Simpson pumps.

This dress is much more forgiving than the skirt. It's spaghetti strap, and the straps are adjustable. The bust has kind of a ruffle going around it, and the waist is nipped in. It is lined. I'm wearing a small.

Both my scarf and shoes are old.

And here's the outfit I'll most likely end up wearing, if it's not too warm out.

I love fair isle sweaters, and there's really no rule that you have to stick to red and green for the holidays. I love the bright colors and fun snowflake pattern on this sweater. It's nice and thick, which means I won't have to wear a coat over it most likely. I paired it with my newish dark-wash ripped boyfriend straight jeans and couldn't not wear my yellow Converse.
