Monday Motivation + 5 Things I'm Loving Right Now

by - March 14, 2022

Happy Monday, friends. How's that time change treating you this morning? I don't know about you, but there's just something about March the last few years. It comes roaring in like a lion...and I've got my fingers crossed that it's going to walk peacefully out of here like a lamb.

Anyway, last week was a mixed bag for sure. It started off really promising with distribution going smoothly and quickly. I had a good interview with a potential new cover photographer and got a good jump on the editorial things I need for the next issue of the magazine.

Then, Tuesday night happened. I was relaxing in a bubble bath when the cat came in to observe, something he does often but usually from the floor near the door. Well that night he was brave or more curious than usual, I don't know, but whatever the reason, he decided to jump up on the edge of the tub. You've probably guessed where this is going... After he had successfully walked all the way around the tub with no incident, he fell in as he was going to get down. I think that's what he was doing anyway. It's all a painful bubbly blur, to be honest. My right leg looks like I went a few rounds with an angry raccoon, and it's taken days for it to not hurt every time I bent my knee. Who knew a 12-pound cat could do that much damage!

The cat is fine, by the way. Traumatized but fine.

I ended up canceling my yoga session for the week, which sucked. I've come to rely on those classes to help keep me centered. The rest of the week went pretty smoothly other than the worse-than-expected pain from that accident. I got a lot done work-wise and spent the weekend rearranging my blog editorial calendar since it's pretty much completely off the rails at the moment. I also finally got to take my car in to get the process of replacing the bumper from where I was rear-ended last month. Sadly, it will be at least another month before it's done.

This week, I've got two more photographer interviews, and I might be chaperoning a field trip (I haven't heard back definitively on if they actually need me). I will make at least one yoga class. I've got a decent-sized to-do list for work, mostly follow-ups. Thankfully, the bulk of what needs to be done for the April issue should be finished this week. I'm hoping to get a jump start on my summer issues, as well, since those guides don't typically have any time sensitive information in them.

I had scheduled my monthly Five Favorite Things post for the first week of the month, but then life happened and that post got pushed to the back burner, and now we're halfway through the month and it still hasn't happened. But I've got a few products that I really am loving at the moment and wanted to share them with you, so I'm making room for them in this post as a little extra for you guys.

Twist-Tee Knot - Okay, so I've technically had this for awhile now and just haven't used it because I'd been wearing mostly sweaters. We had some warm weather the last couple of weeks though so I finally got to give it a try, and I truthfully don't know how I've been living without this little tool. It took me a few tries to get it right, but this takes all the guess work out of knotting a t-shirt or the hem of a dress/skirt. Plus, it stays tied all day long. Seriously, don't sleep on this, guys!

Dove Purifying Detox Body Wash - This has been amazing. I'm not a fan of the smell, overall, but it doesn't linger so I can't complain too much. Especially since it feels so dang good on my skin. Even Alexis likes it, and she's super picky about soap.

Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub - In case you missed it the other times I mentioned it, I had a pretty bad reaction to some apple cider vinegar gummies earlier this year and my skin has still not rebounded all the way from that. My dermatologist recommended trying either Cetaphil or Cerave (which is the only lotion I use), and this is what was available in my drug store. It's been a life-saver, truly. I don't know that I'll keep using it forever, but right now it's the only face wash that's making a real difference.

International Delight Southern Butter Pecan Coffee Creamer - I can't indulge in ice cream but I can indulge with this. Oh, it's so good, y'all.

Dr. Teal's Body Therapy Soak - This might be my favorite Dr. Teal's yet. It really does make a difference in my pain level, especially after a tough yoga session that leaves my muscles feeling like jelly.
