Real Outfit Roundup: 9 Early Summer OOTD's

by - May 27, 2020

Has your state started reopening yet? The tri-states area that we live in is trying to get back to normal, but our family isn't in a huge rush to return to the way things were. To be honest, we didn't go out all that much to begin with, but there's just something about being told that you can't, y'know? Anyway, we've stuck pretty close to home the past few weeks, other than the occasional trip to the post office or bank and that one day we went down to the beach for a few hours. We've slowly been easing up on our nearly complete isolation of Alexis, but not by much. I have been getting dressed every day, even if it isn't until mid-afternoon, *shrug*, but I haven't been good about taking photos. I did, however, get photos of some of the newer pieces I talked about last week.

Sizing info: I'm 5'2" and usually wear size 6/8 or medium in tops and dresses, size 6 in jeans, and size 7 in shoes.

I wore this for just a regular day of working from home with a side of outside activity with Alexis. The shirt is from last summer but still available in a few sizes. I sized up because I wanted a looser fit but could have worn my usual size. These shorts are from my summer style picks post. They're mid-rise and have cuffed hems. They are pretty snug in the leg so you may want to consider sizing up (I should have). My sandals are also from last summer. They are hands-down my favorite purchase from last year. I wear them all. the. time.

I picked up this pale pink t-shirt on a Walmart run a few weeks ago. Time and Tru tees are inexpensive, decent quality, and I like the way they fit. I paired it with the tie-dye jeans I bought completely on a whim. Honestly, I'm a little surprised with how much I like them. I tend to stay away from Old Navy's Rockstar jeans because they seem a little stiff, but these are really soft and stretchy. I also like the subtle raw-edge hem (re: not overdone fraying). I finished the look with my new favorite wedges.

You've seen this dress a few times on the blog already. It's so good and still available in all sizes. It was a little cooler on that particular day so I paired it with this super affordable white denim jacket. I kept things casual with my Chucks.

On Me: Jumpsuit / Shoes
On Alexis: similar Dress / Shoes

Have I mentioned lately how much I love jumpsuits? I was a little worried about ordering this one without having seen it in person, but it fit perfectly. Warning, it does wrinkle pretty easily from sitting.

I never, and I mean never, wear this much white/cream together, but I wanted to try something different...and dangerous. I mean, pretty much every time I wear something light colored I end up spilling something on myself. But I made it through the day stain free, and we even ate BBQ!

I grabbed this dress on a recent Target run. As soon as I saw it, I had to have it. I'm having kind of a moment with halter-style tops/dresses, and I loved the feminine feel of this dress. It's a nice, crisp cotton, unlined but not see through. It ties around back of the neck. The only thing that would make it better is if it had pockets!

My swimsuit preferences have changed a lot in recent years. I still prefer a two-piece over a one-piece, but the less skin on display the better. Last year I found a really good swimsuit on Amazon, but it has completely disappeared. After about a month of searching for something I liked, I landed on this one from Target. I love the bandanna-style top. It ties around the neck and about middle of the back.

I wore this for a trip to the hardware store (we've been building a porch). These taupe sneakers have become my go-to casual shoe that's not a sandal for this summer. I've worn them both with and without socks. I haven't had any issues with rubbing, other than the first time I wore them, but even then only on one side.

The tie-dye jeans make another appearance, this time with this blue-and-white striped button-up. I've worn it way more than I've photographed it. It's really thin but not see-through. It also comes in a pretty light pink.
