8 Things That Made January Better

by - February 04, 2022

I'm not gonna lie to y'all. January was a pretty crappy month, but I think that should be expected when you spend two weeks solid confined to your house with Covid. Needless to say, finding things that made life a little bit better hasn't been a walk in the park. But I've always been of the mind that focusing on the positive things in life is what makes life happy. So in that spirit, here are eight things that made the first month of 2022 not quite so horrible.

Sinex Saline Ultra Fine Nasal Mist - If you've somehow missed that we all got Covid last month, here's your reminder. This nose spray was my friend. It's drug-free, which means you can use it as much as you need, and the canister didn't lie when it said it instantly clears everyday congestion.

monat-air-dry-cream

Monat Air Dry Cream - This came in just in time for me to give it a run for its money while sick. Even outside of being sick, though, I find myself taking the path of least resistance with my hair more and more these days. So while this cream does not give me super defined curls, it does work well with my natural waves.

Warrior Witch duology - This little two-book series started off my year of reading, and they were so good. If you're into Lord of the Rings, you should give these a shot. Read my full review here.

Love and Monsters movie - We watched this on a whim, having never heard of it, but it turned out to be pretty good. We actually watched several movies this past month that we'd never seen, but this one was probably my favorite.

monat-charcoal-mask

Monat Be Purified Cold Charcoal Mask - This is just a fun little product to pamper yourself with an at-home spa day. I highly recommend!

CoverGirl Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara - I've been trying to be a little more conscious about the beauty products I use, so I was pleasantly surprised at how good this mascara actually is.

Dr. Teal's Black Elderberry Foaming Bath - Y'all know I love my Dr. Teal's foaming bath. I usually get the eucalyptus one but it was out so I decided to try this immunity-boosting one. It smells so good.

bentgo-kids-lunchbox

Bentgo Kids Lunchbox - I am not a fancy school lunch mom, but Alexis has been on a kick about taking more fruits and veggies to school, so I picked up this cute little divided box. I was pretty skeptical about it, honestly, but it has actually made packing her lunch every day easier, and I'm able to more effectively send her fruit and veggies. I absolutely love this box.

  1. Hi, Ashton!

Thanks a lot for dropping in at Shady's Place today, dear friend! You are the oldest friend I have in blogging and I am always elated to see you.

Yessum, I read about your dismal start to 2022, how your throat felt like you had swallowed a porcupine that was lit on fire. Your husband fell ill, then you, then dear little Alexis. It grieves me to think of it. I am very happy to know that the worst is now behind you. Hopefully the rest of the year will go much more smoothly for you and your family.

I'm pleased to learn about that nasal mist. I've been looking for a product like that one. I usually take showers but, when I take a bath, I enjoy having some bubbles and a sweet scent in the water. Your foaming bath product seems like the ticket. I got curious about the movie you guys watched, Love And Monsters, and did some reading. Seems like I'd really enjoy it. I noticed it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects. When I read about the giant ant, it reminded me of one of the first movies I saw in a theater at the age of four, a 1954 sci-fi film about giant ants called Them!

Onward and upward, dear friend Ashton. Take care of yourself and your family and come see me again soon!
