8 Movies I Watched This Summer

by - September 10, 2021

Man, I really didn't watch many movies this summer. Last summer, I feel like we were watching a movie every other day or so. But this summer, I only managed to squeeze in eight new-to-me movies. And yes, I'm aware that some of these have been out for awhile. And I somehow managed to grab the Spanish version of one of the movie posters. Oops. Anyway, here are the 8 movies I watched this summer.

Valley Girl - This is not the Nicholas Cage original from the 80s, although I've seen that version, too. This is the remake from a couple years ago, and I'm just going to say it. I love this movie. It's a musical, which I wasn't expecting, but it's still got all the over-the-top cheesy 80s stuff going on. It was a lot of fun, and I've watched it at least half a dozen times already.

Midnight Sun - This one's a real tear-jerker. The main character has a rare skin disorder that if she is exposed to any UV rays, she'll die. So she's basically a vampire - awake all night, asleep during the day. She does have a best friend, though, and finally actually meets the boy she's been watching skate past her window. This was a really good movie, but definitely have some tissues ready.

Black Widow - Who didn't watch this over the summer? I really enjoyed it.

Moxie - I needed this movie back when I was in high school and college. This is a coming of age movie in which the main character starts a revolution in her school demanding better treatment of the female students.

Spenser Confidential - This was a "date night" movie, but I love Mark Wahlberg. He plays a disgraced cop who's been serving time after being set up by dirty members of the police force. Once he's released, it all starts up again, and he sets out to clear his name and clean out the bad guys.

Wonder Woman 1984 - This movie had such a unique story, and I loved the lesson it taught. Also, Kristen Wig absolutely killed it.

Ready Player One - This movie definitely lived up to the hype. I'm sad we waited so long to watch it.

Someone Great - This one's a romantic comedy. Jenny has been dumped the night before she's supposed to move across the country for a job, so she and her friends set out to have one last big night.
